Why join KCBA?

Established in 1858, the Kane County Bar Association (KCBA) is a professional legal organization.  Our membership includes over 850 attorneys, judges, paralegals and students.  From free educational seminars to social events, there are many benefits of membership.

COMMITTEES
More than 30 committees, representing nearly every aspect of legal practice, provide practical and timely information on their specific area. Benefits of committee involvement include professional interaction, networking opportunities, and continuing legal education seminars.

CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (CLE)
Organized by the KCBA committees, monthly seminars are presented to further legal knowledge.  Starting in September and continuing through June, the seminars feature expert speakers and timely topics.  These monthly CLE seminars are offered to KCBA members at no charge.

BAR BRIEFS
Bar Briefs is the monthly newsletter of the KCBA and the only legal publication in Kane County.   It includes articles on substantive areas of the law and court policies as well as information on bar sponsored events, happenings in the legal community, and membership profiles.  In addition to receiving a free subscription, members can place one free classified ad per month.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
This valuable resource is updated annually to provide vital information for KCBA members. It provides a complete listing of names, addresses, phone, fax and e-mail information for KCBA members, as well as important KCBA, court and government information.  The directory also provides lawyer referral information for specific areas of practice.  This publication is provided free of charge to KCBA members thanks to the generous support of sponsors and advertisers.

WEBSITE (www.kanecountybar.org)
The KCBA website is the electronic means of obtaining information on KCBA activities and upcoming events.  This site provides a link for both the KCBA membership and the public on legal issues.

FIND A LAWYER SERVICE
The KCBA provides a free opportunity for lawyer referrals for the public through our website (www.kanecountybar.org).   This free service allows site visitors to select options from several criteria (area of practice, location, years of practice, etc.) to produce a list of attorneys who meet their specifications.  The public can also call our “Find A Lawyer” phone line at 630-762-1900 to listen to a recorded message which contains agency referral numbers and information about accessing the online “Find A Lawyer” service.

SOCIAL EVENTS
The KCBA sponsors social events throughout the year.  These events have included the Steer Roast, Holiday Party, Golf Outing, Judge’s Night and much more.  Social events provide opportunities to make and enhance professional contacts and friendships within the legal community.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
The KCBA reaches out to the community in many ways.  Members can give back to the community through blood drives, the annual toy drive, providing education for the public through “People’s Law School’, and many other beneficial programs.

OTHER MEMBER BENEFITS
KCBA members can take advantage of many other benefits.  The KCBA Staff takes photos for Courthouse Security Passes for both Kane and DuPage County for easy access to the courthouses in each county.  Members can purchase the Attorney’s Diary, which is a calendar with Federal and State information, and also mailing labels of the KCBA Membership.  Conference Room space in our new office facility is available for depositions and meetings.  Other benefits become available from time to time and we are always looking for new benefits and services to add.  Suggestions can be directed to Jan Wade, Executive Director.
