A Message from Dr. Diana Uchiyama, JD, PsyD, CAADC
To the Illinois Legal Community,
Currently, LAP is experiencing a tremendous increase in need for services due to the very trying times that the legal community is currently enduring. At the end of June 2020, before civil unrest and political uncertainty, became more pronounced, the CDC indicated that 53 % of the adult population were struggling with mental health issues due to the pandemic, relating to the economic, health, emotional, and family stressors people were experiencing. This number most likely has increased significantly since then. Since we are facing an uncertain fall and winter while Covid-19 cases are increasing nationally, LAP anticipates even more need and outreach. Unfortunately, our funding has remained stagnant, and LAP is facing a financial shortfall this year that must be made up through fundraising efforts. We ask for your financial support so that LAP can continue to offer free services throughout the State of Illinois, and also provide financial assistance t o those in the legal community who have no insurance or income to get appropriate services for their mental health, substance use, or other needs. We appreciate your support and your help in making sure that everyone who is suffering in the legal community can get the help they deserve.
